There are numerous business opportunities for making money offered on TV and on the Internet. Most are of the more "lunatic kind", but a few are quite legitimate and workable. The main purpose of a good business opportunity has to be to make money in an agreeable environment.

	The entry costs have to be reasonably low.
	The business opportunity does not require specific up-front knowledge, over and beyond common sense. You have to be able to acquire the knowledge for running the business, as you build up the business.
	There is no need to purchase and keep inventory.

The most promising opportunities that fit this bill are internet related businesses, or activities, that require some initial physical effort, such as cleaning services, organizing jobs, coaching, mentoring or similar services. In other words, they tend to be home based or not very glamorous. But remember, the basic criteria is, to make a solid good income within a reasonable time after the start. With the prospects of making a substantial income within the medium term (two to five years)

Internet businesses have the advantage that the initial investment to start the business is small. We have, on purpose, excluded inventory carrying businesses, because of the initial costs of acquiring such inventory. That limits the business opportunities we consider here to

	Internet businesses which sell knowledge based programs
	Internet affiliate sites (i.e. selling someone else's products through your site); and
	Businesses which provide a service that sells in one way or another your specific skills or abilities

Naturally, you can widen the range of businesses you consider. Many of the characteristics and problems we discuss here remain the same.

Creating and Selling Knowledge and Information Products

Sales of information products have the highest income stream generation on the Internet. Obviously, this takes a little bit of time to prepare. Yet, you can always use a strategy that is based on several income generating activities. Go with the affiliate pages first, while you prepare an e-book.

If you have specific knowledge in a field, you could write an e-book and sell it on your own website or through eBay and amazon.com , or in a combination of all three. Writing an instructional e-book is not as difficult as you think and there are a number of low priced but good technical programs that help you in structuring and creating the e-book. The topic will depend on your own skills and knowledge. As an example, a man summarized his 30 years of being a handyman into a great package that gives step-by-step instructions on how to be successful as a handyman. We have read it and it is amazingly good. There are many other fields where people would be interested in seeing a "How-to" account.

To write a successful eBook you have to answer three basic questions:

	Are there enough people interested in this topic, and are they readily reachable, preferably in groups, to market my ebook to?
	Do those people have a problem for which they are willing to pay money – at least $19 to $49 – to solve?
	Can you provide them with enough workable solution to solve their problem?

Besides creating a product yourself, you can search the market, including the Internet for someone who has a marketable knowledge based product which he/she wants to sell. That would require you to make a reasonable financial agreement with that person. That in itself is not such an easy task!

Once you have created a product, or acquired it from someone else, you still have to sell the book. If you try to sell it through your own web page, you will face the the problems of marketing. Getting a web page going and attracting sufficient interested visitors to your web page is not an easy task. Writing in Facebook and twitter might help in spreading the "gospel" about your amazing new product. Creating your own blog will also offer possibilities to make people familiar with your ideas. Advertising in craigslist.org, it is free, is another option. Maybe your former professional trade organization has its own blog. Use any legitimate means possible to spread the word about your product. eBay is a good means to sell your product through an additional outlet. The same applies for amazon.com.
